The Penngwyn

Valentines day is one of the best days of the year for kids.  They get free candy.  I think it comes in a close second to Halloween.  Penn’s day at school was good.  Each kid in his class was asked who would be their Valentine and Penn said everyone in his class and everyone in his family.  He then stated that he had enough Valentines for everyone.  Ella one of his admirers in the class said that Penn was her Valentine because she loved him and he was her sweetie and sweetheart. (Because of Ella’s great affection for Penn and her love for showing her affection, there has been a no kissing policy put into place in the Indigo room.  Only kissing between family members is allowed.)  Her parents are both Doctors very nice and unassuming.  I was unaware of the kissing issue until one day I was picking Penn up from school and Ella’s mom can up to me,” I am so sorry about Ella’s behavior.  She really likes Penn a lot .  Her father has had a very stern talk with her about appropriate and inappropriate ways to use her body”.  Of course my typical response, ” Oh don’t worry I am sure its fine they are just kids, Ella has such great karizma and personality”.  At that point I start to hear screams coming  from the other side of the room.  It was Penn laying on his back with Ella laying on top of him kissing him over and over again!!!  “Ok” I said ” think I am starting to see your point”!  I spoke with Penn about it when we got in the car.  His statement,”she loves me and wants to marry me and she really likes kissing me. Yuck, not happening, I don’t like it”!  “OK” I said, “works for me”.  

About a week later I came to pick Penn up from school and Caroline (his teacher) wanted to talk to me.  Ok here we go, I thought.  She starts by saying,” I’m not sure if your aware of the Ella -Penn situation but they have this really great chemistry”.  I stop her right there, “CHEMISTRY” I say “they are 5 years old”.  “I know”, she continues “but they do”.  “They have very simaler personalities and they get along very well.  Ella has really strong feelings for Penn so we had put into place a no kissing policy for the class to help the situation.”  She finishes by saying, ” I just wanted to make you aware of the situation”.  Of course my great parenting response,”ummm….Ok”.  Then we both look at each other and start laughing. ” This is a first for me “I say, “us too”, she replies.   Ella is what you would call “wide open”.  Anyway, I digress.  Penn also had two other little girls say he was their Valentine as well.  They are just not as forward with their feelings as Ella I suppose.  Penn should enjoy this now.  I don’t think girls will be this straight forward when he gets older,or at least for my sake I hope not.

  Anyway, the bubble rings were a big hit and we came home to lots of candy, valentines and  stickers from family members.  Penn wanted to turn off the lights and eat dinner by candle lite.  So we did.  All and all it was a good day.  We are now watching Scooby Do before bed.  All My Love, Mama   

The other big news of today was Penn’s Me Book Conference (parent teacher).  It went great!!!  Of course,  he is such a great kid.  Caroline said he was ready for kindergarten.  She also said he was creative, a leader in his class, very smart, loving and caring!!  I loved every minute of it.  Could I ask for a better child?  Oh, if every school could be as great as rainbow riders.  After talking with other mommies, I feel as if I am throwing he to the wolves for kindergarten.  I hope he gets a great teacher!!!!  I also hope Gwyn makes it to kindergarten without getting kicked out of Rainbow Riders!!!  (JK) She is wild!!!  All My Love, Mama

I am off to a very slow Valentines day.  I am very sick (fever, cold, etc.).  We were going to make a heart shaped cake for Penn’s class tonight and finish up our Valentines.  However, I ended up goingto McDonald’s drive Thur and laying in Penn’s bed while the Penngwyn eat their food at Gwyn’s pink table in their room.  I did buy some rings that have bubbles inside of them.  So Penn was not too disappointed!!  We can make the cake another time.  After dinner they decided to run around with walkie talkies.  Very entertaining!!!!  All my Love, Mama

The Penngwyn store open for business!This is my first blog for The Penngwyn!!!  I am very excited!!! Well,  I figure at least this way when they enter therapy as adults their therapist can pin point the exact day and time I scar them for life!  OK, OK,  hopefully this will be a great way for people (who love the Penngwyn) to see what they are doing daily.  Hopefully you will get a kick out for this blog for Penn has funny little quotes that comeout from time to time.  This is their life, on a blog, for the world to see( Just wait til high school .Then it will really get interesting)!!!   

Today we spent the evening in their bedroom playing.  I had made banana bread which is a favorite of theirs so we ate dinner in their bedroom at Gwyn’s pink table.  The dinner consisted of Banana bread, grapes and carrots.  It was a hit.  Gwyn got to eat off of her little pink dishes that go with her kitchen set.  Then Gwyn decided to play store and Penn said he was going to build a wall for his bedroom(not sure what that was all about but if I had to guess it has something to do with his sister and not wanting her around).  I feel as if we have had an overall good evening.  Gwyn only had 4 temper tantrums that lasted a total of ten minutes.  Its hell being 2.  Penn expressed how he wished we were in the cottage at Jekyll and I said, ” only one month away”.  Yeah!!!!!  WE LOVE THE BEACH!!!!!  Anyway, that’s all for now.
